Hello babes, so during the week of international yoga day, I decided to take my yoga practice a step further, like entire week further; 7 days of yoga, if something is so good I tend to take in as much as possible. Well normally I do yoga once a week as I like to mix it up with tennis and HIIT but this time since I was honoring yoga day, for a girl who recognizes birth-week as opposed to birthday, it was only fair I do the same for yoga no?Yoga is such a great exercise not just for the body but for the mind and soul as well #tripplethreat. Here is my most significant experience from the practice
During this week, I had much better sleep than usual. Normally I wake up in the middle of the night for a glass of water but not during yoga week, I literally went to bed at 10:00pm and only woke up once at 6:00am. I was my very own alarm clock!
Yoga week took my meditation practice to a whole new much beneficial level. Am somewhat new to meditation and if you’re a novice at this, you know how easily your mind can drift off. Every yoga practice begins with a mini meditation session led by ujjayi breath, this helped me focus more and set pure intentions for my practice, amazing!
Also I stepped up my flexibility game. If you follow along on Instagram and Snapchat you will notice the absence of splits and many hip opener poses, that’s because my hip area is really tight but the seven days of yoga made such a huge difference and now I actually learnt new tricks that I perform everyday to work on my hip muscles. Soon splits will debut on my Instafeed lol
Yoga is definitely good for the mind, can you imagine 7 days of refreshing the mind? I was more productive work wise, I ticked off everything on my to-do list which usually only happens when I only have sleep and tennis to do lol.
Since then, I have been hooked! Now I elevated my weekly yoga practice to twice a week. One class with a pro yogi and the second class in the comfort of my space and I enjoy both practices. Currently my favorite practice is power yoga, it generates a lot of positive energy which I need like every minute and I always lead with the ujjayi breath so I don’t lose myself during the practice; it keeps me at a controlled pace.
What’s the longest period you’ve done yoga, what was the after maths? Let me know in the comment section.
