Hello beautiful people, how do you handle fear?
Last week I had an interesting conversation about fear that pretty much inspired today’s blogpost. Is fear something one should be embarrassed of and be quite about? I don’t think so, am actually in full support of talking about your fears, there is somewhat solace in putting it out there in the world.
I actually love fear, I love being afraid of things, situations and people, its good because it dares me to brave a step out of my comfort zone, fear is unforgettable, I almost remember everything that scared me since childhood, from darkness to standing in front of crowds and I love how I always braved my way through each one of them in the end, now they’re simply my ha-ha memories that motivate me to conquer fears I face as an adult.
Fear builds character and feelings of empathy; it is way easier to show kindness and comfort to people facing something you’ve faced before because you remember exactly how it made you feel and are better at dealing with it even if you haven’t yet conquered it.
The only thing you have to be careful about fear is giving in, sometimes we tend to accept fear and hand it the power over us because we think it’s safe, that’s not good, if fear should play any role in our lives, it should be to motivate us to go ahead and face it.
What are you afraid of and what are you going to do about it? I hope your answer to this question doesn’t end with doing nothing about it, because nothing is what’s embarrassing, not the fear.
