Hello beautiful people, today i want to address motivation
It’s been a while for sure and I did be lying if I said I was too busy, am never too busy for you but also I want to keep it a hundred with you guys so the truth is I was just feeling less motivated like level zero, yeah that bad all thanks to life’s banalities but still, I didn’t want to give you guys some half baked gibberish. It is true, sometimes motivation finds you, other times you have to find it, it’s a legit two way street I tell you. So, in my pursuit of motivation, this is what I did and it worked!
Changing environment, a friend came up with a safari idea which I jumped on in 2 seconds, even though this meant I had to go back on my promise of not giving in to wanderlust until next year but who am I kidding? Am lost without wandering off every now and then #gypseatraits. So anyway I went to Murchison falls national park and boy was it gorgeous! Take it from me, safari is always a brilliant idea, it ignited my fire and I came back all motivated and excited, I saw a rainbow that never goes away! Ps: Safari video up on youtube.
Less phone time: full disclosure; this wasn’t by choice initially but turned out to be a blessing in disguise. So one fine Saturday night as I was out on the town having a good time jumping up and down to some good EDM, my MiFi went missing. Maybe it was picked from my purse or it fell to the floor idk but what I remember is staying connected to the Wi-Fi for like the next 3 hours and relentlessly looking for it [no luck] meanwhile my hair was on the receiving end of beer spills and all the other random shit that was falling out of whoever’s hand so gross. I was forced to stay without internet for a whole 6 hours which got me to keep more company with my mind and I actually enjoyed it, so I decided to carry on like that and it’s been nothing less of mind de-clutter creating more space for new ventures.
Switching up my workout routine; as you may already know, I settled on yoga for my fitness needs, that’s where my soul belongs now but once in a while, the routine gets stale and coming up with a new one is very essential. For change, I usually go for a communal practice because the more positive energy the merrier plus it gives me ideas and direction on how to switch up my personal practice but this time, I found an app that came highly recommended and it hasn’t disappointed, am so obsessed with it that I now change my routine every day, it keeps things fresh especially my mind. If you want to try it, the app is called DOWNDOGAPP, game a changed!
Dropping whatever it is that I wasn’t enjoying like weight lifting; one of the fundamentals of a happy life is to stay true to yourself, this includes enjoying the things you do especially for yourself. A few months ago, I embarked on a leg toning routine to get me some leg goals and I took the obvious route, GYM. I have never really been your typical go-to-the-gym-every-day-girl but I was going to do it and nothing was going to stop me, so I thought. Running everyday on the treadmill had its own effects on my knees and the weight lifting just bored me, the entire time I was thinking of pool side pictures and yoga moves, it really wasn’t doing the trick for me mind-wise but rather a stressful factor that I had to deal with every day. I decided to go with whatever was on my mind, more bikinis and time on the mat, I now do swimming for cardio and put more emphasis on my legs during yoga, so still on the same leg goals, just taking a different route, after all, the journey is the reward no? Ever since then, I feel like I did some mind off loading and I can tell you for sure, it’s gotten me some inspiration. I still do the weight lifting for my legs but now I do less of it and more yoga, it’s the life!
De-cluttering my living space, some old tricks will forever be classics! It’s always a shocker as to how much I collect in the course of the year, getting rid of it is now somewhat music to my ears and such a rewarding feeling knowing that someone out there wants it and it may add a little value to their life, this is a definite win-win!
